Hello!!!
Dear student friends, this post
is exclusively for you as you are the future of our Nation.
Friends, (y)our life is integrated
with TIME and I feel that life is a wheel which rolls down continuously without
even a break for a single moment. All of us are aware of the fact that Time
stops for none and so if our life wheel stops moving/rolling there is nothing
left in our life to perform. But the footprints/marks our life wheel has
printed on the road of our journey makes the difference.
So in the process of visualising this
concept I have taken the above figure (thanks to my students Sampada Nidhi, who
has depicted my idea of Life Wheel….picture perfect and Sowmya Baggam for
asking me to write). As for any journey, right from bullock carts to airplanes,
the tyres or wheels as we know should be a perfect circle to have a comfortable journey. As every wheel
has spokes(a rod radiating from the centre of a wheel) which are equally spaced
with the same strength and length, I feel that (y)our life also is like a wheel
with some priorities depending upon the individual. It is upto oneself to choose
what spokes your life wheel should consist of. The life journey or the wheel
will depend purely on the spokes/priorities/preferences you choose for your
life. Choose your life preferences and try to give equal importance for all the
spokes. As you can see in the above figure my spokes/preferences/priorities in
my life are FAMILY, EDUCATION, FRIENDS,
DEVOTION, SOCIAL SERVICE, HEALTH, CAREER & ENTERTAINMENT.
The spokes can diverge but you
can realize that if all the spokes of a wheel are equal, then only the wheel
can move forward without any ruptures even on an uneven road. All of us
agree to the fact that we don’t know
what life has in store for us and so I have depicted our future with the road
ahead. Not everyone will be fortunate enough to have a plain and perfect road
ahead. But it is the individual’s responsibility to see that even though the
road has small potholes or hurdles, with a balanced wheel we all can move ahead
or make our journey smooth to reach our goal posts.
My spokes are very clear for me
and I manage all the above giving due importance to each spoke when required.
As the wheel is moving ahead( as time passes….) while rotating, each spoke will
become important based on different phases of our life.
Family is the backbone of any
individual and so happy and strong families help us in building a happy and
strong Nation.
As rightly preached by Sri Satya
Sai Baba, ‘The end of Education is Character’, let us all strive towards
attaining such an Education which can build Character.
A life without friends is ugly and dull…so have friends.
There is no age for us to taste
the flavour of Devotion. Devotion does not mean sitting in front of idols or
photos of GOD and spending all your time in prayers. Devotion is a commitment
and loyality towards your duty. So devote yourself for the good work…..
As they say,’Service to mankind
is service to GOD’, so spend some time
in helping the needy. Do it sincerely from your heart….not for the sake of
likes in FB or hashtags in twitter or follwers in instagram……
Health is wealth …..so take
proper care of your health by doing
yoga, exercise, eating healthy and don’t become slaves to unwanted and
undesirable habits…..
If you can understand the importance
of the above you can earn a happy and successful career. Career doesn’t mean
earning more money.I sincerely feel that don’t run beyond money as wealth/money
will automatically come if you take proper care in balancing your life wheel….so
choose your career wisely…….
Once you have a career,
entertainment also follows and so life wheel goes on happily…….
So this is what I want to emphasize my young & lovely students…..Hope I did not bore you ….what to do ….i am a
teacher by passion and I cannot keep quiet without motivating my students…..
Be careful in choosing your priorities in your life and
try to balance them…..

Madam, of the many students comprising this world, no one can be as fortunate as us. You instill that sense in us whenever you have time and I sincerely hope that your thoughts will have a greater audience in the future starting today.

ReplyDeleteYes mam,we need to balance every factor in every aspect of life.With so much emotional pressure and disturbance in work-life balance, we cannot express best performance and output(especially we students).This is a perfect life wheel.A very nice verse about the life management mam.Its always a great moment to listen to your words.You are an eminent professor in your own style mam.

ReplyDeleteWow Lalitha.. beautiful balaced mix of science n philisiphy. Couple of points to add:
ReplyDelete1) wheel represents both zero n infinity (completeness). So, this wheel n balance can make u hero or zero.
2) it's a single wheel.. we are alone and individually responsible n accountable for the wheel composition n journey n destination.
3)Diff wheel sizes n colors are natural.. as long as the wheel itself/yourself makes sure it remains a wheel n rolling happyily enjoying it's ride n reaching it's destination.
4) pairing with another wheel or a bunch of close knit ones may bring dependency/stability. But remember, like yourself, every other wheel has it's own color, size, pace, road, drive, n destination.
Btw, as any science is incomplete without practicals.. I would encourage you to pen part2 of the blog, sharing how you implement this in reality.. n tips n lessons.
